Steelproduction

The Waterloo City Council unanimously approved a resolution last month urging the U.S. Congress to prevent cheap foreign steel from entering domestic markets.

The resolution singled out purchases from China in particular.

During its regular meeting on Jan 18, the council also approved an $18,138 services agreement for HVAC repairs at City Hall and a resolution declaring Waterloo a Purple Heart City. The city will follow up on the resolution by erecting a Purple Heart monument in Lakeside Park.

The Waterloo City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first, third and fourth Mondays of each month at City Hall, 100 W. Fourth St.

The council consists of two alderman from each of the city's four wards, plus the mayor.
