Waterloo City Council to meet, discuss Waterloo Millers advertising

Takenotes

The Waterloo, Illinois City Council is scheduled to meet at 7:30 tonight, Feb. 22.

The council will review and discuss the request from Manager Vernell Moehrs of the Waterloo Millers Baseball Club Inc.

In previous years, the council has supported the baseball club by purchasing advertising in the program. The four-page centerfold ad is $400. The council will consider the request and possibly take action. If approved, the advertising will be placed under Tourism and paid from the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund.

The council will also hear various reports, including from the Building Inspector and Code Administrator. The Code Administrator has the totals of rental inspections made since Jan. 1 to Feb. 19. Thirty two inspections have been made in 2016. The 2015 total number of inspections was 247. The violations included eight smoke detectors, six carbon monoxide detectors and six ground fault interrupter (GFI) outlets. The total number of violations for these three items in 2015 were 49, 47 and 44, respectively.

The Building Inspector made 24 new construction inspections between Jan. 1 and Feb. 19. Last year a total of 293 inspections were made. In addition, 12 dumpster/POD permits have been issued this year. Eighty-four were issued in 2015.

After hearing unfinished business and discussing any items that arose after the agenda deadline, the council will adjourn the meeting.
