Real estate broker Steve Landreth has requested the Anna, Illinois City Council to vote on his sign request.

The managing broker for Classic Properties Farm and Home Realtors addressed the council during a recent regular session. He talked about sign ordinances, and asked about past sign ordinances, on premise signs, grandfathering and political signs.

According to the council, the majority of it voted to leave the sign ordinance unchanged. Landreth said that he would submit a list of signs to the City Administrator Steve Guined that were not in compliance with the last sign ordinance 99-5.

Mayor Steve Hartline told Landreth that the council would have the city attorney look into any non-compliance matter, if such a list was submitted.

The council also accepted the resignation of Police Chief Scott Rice, although an effective date was not specified.

Commissioner Al Kamp made a motion to approve Blue Cross as the employee/retiree health insurance plan for the policy period of March 1 to Feb. 28, 2017. A vote was taken upon the motion, which was seconded by Commissioner David Isom. The motion was declared carried with no dissenting votes.

During the meeting, there were discussions about the previous check mailed in July to the Union County Treasurer for animal control and the SIEG drug task force agent. The county maintained that the payment was short $2,094.60.

A motion to pay the due amount was moved by Commissioner Brandon Bierstedt and seconded by Commissioner Martha Webb. The motion was declared carried by a three to two vote.
