Carbondale Community Winter Farmers Market to close winter season in April
The winter season of the City of Carbondale, Illinois Community Winter Farmers Market will end in April.
The farmers’ market is a producer-only, year-round market. The winter season of the market takes place from November to April, inside the north entrance of Carbondale Community High School.
During the summer season, it moves to an outdoor setting on the north side staff parking lot of the school. The summer season takes place from May to October.
The market features seasonal fruits and vegetables, pasture-raised meats and eggs, local honey, hand crafted items and baked goods. Children's activities, educational displays, cooking demonstrations and classes, and live music are scheduled throughout the year.
The market features a food grower labeling system with three grower classification categories. They are: certified organic, sustainable, and conventional. The goal is to make sure that the visitors, who are interested in farm growing practices, can make informed market purchase decisions easily.
The market also features two certified organic growers and a number of farms using sustainable farming practices, as well as conventional growers from throughout the region.
