Marion brings back experience, talent to tennis courts this fall

Tennis

Those who liked watching Marion High School girls' tennis last season will see a lot of familiar faces this season.

No one graduated off the 2015 roster that put together a 12-9 record and earned fourth place in the South Seven Conference. That means that several players with varsity experience — including four who earned postseason honors — are back this season.

The parade of returning stars starts with seniors Anna Bartle and Sarah Diederich, each of whom received All-South Seven second-team honors. Fellow seniors Torrie Holst and Nicole Plumley earned honorable mention on the all-conference squad.

Juniors Elaina Vanderflught and Kaitlyn Hill, and sophomore Ana Cuartas, as well as newcomer sophomore Peyton Lindquist, round out the varsity lineup this year, Head Coach Carrie Watson said.

Also on the roster this season are seniors Haylee Quertermous and Mila Williams; junior Daziya Faust; sophomore Ellie Cox; and freshmen Zoe Boatright, Paula Diederich, Carrie Graham, Janajia Humble and Kelsey Watson.

Note: Not all teams' information was available at press time.
