A new monthly event series recently kicked off at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Touch of Nature Environmental Center, offering family fun -- whether it's around a campfire, or enjoying featured entertainment -- all while experiencing the great outdoors.
Touch of Nature is located along the shore of Little Grassy Lake, approximately eight miles south of Carbondale on Giant City Road. The Upper 40 Cabin is about 1.5 miles south of the main entrance, with signage guiding arrivals to the destination.
The Touch of Nature events are scheduled for the second Saturday of each month, with the next event Nov. 12, followed by Dec. 10. The locations of the events inside the center will vary, depending on the event. Programs are free, but donations are welcome and will support Touch of Nature's educational
