SIU Carbondale’s School of Art and Design invites the public for an inside peek at artists’ work during Friday's Open Studio event, featuring a multi-stop tour at several building sites, a faculty exhibit and a cookout.

Starting at 3 p.m., faculty, students and guests can visit the Foundry, located at the junction of West Pleasant Hill Road and Reservoir Road (between Evergreen Park and U.S. Highway 51), where students use metal-casting techniques to create sculptures.

At 3:30 p.m., Pulliam Hall’s Industrial Wing will open its doors to exhibit ceramics, glass, metal and blacksmithing projects, while the Design Wing will highlight communication and industrial design.

At 5 p.m., participants will tour the Glove Factory, formerly known as the Good Luck Glove Co. and now a hub of activity in woodworking, welding and instructional space, plus studios, at 432 S. Washington Ave.

The event will culminate in a faculty exhibit at the Glove Factory’s Surplus Gallery, followed by a cookout at 6 p.m.
