Red Bud City Council approves furnace replacement costs

The Red Bud City Council met Nov. 22 to approve furnace replacement costs.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the council:

Red Bud is governed by an aldermanic form of government. Along with the mayor, city clerk and treasurer, there are eight council members elected to four-year terms.

The City Council of Red Bud, Randolph County, Illinois met on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 8:18 P.M. at Red Bud City Hall, City Council Chambers.

Members Present: Mayor Tim Lowry, Clem Esker, Don Thompson, Mike Reed, Bill Hanebutt, Glenn Linnertz, David Friess, Clarence Nail

Members Absent: Kyle Donjon

Others Present: City Attorney Paul Ray, City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Administrative Assistant Pam Poetker, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Call to Order at 8:18 P.M. by Mayor Lowry

II. Roll Call by City Clerk Joanne Cowell

III. Insurance Approvals

1. Property/Casualty Insurance Policy Renewals

Motion made by Council Member Reed, seconded by Council Member Nail, to approve the renewal of the property/casualty insurance policies, which include the Illinois Counties Risk Management Trust ($116,983), the Cincinnati Insurance Company, boiler machinery ($12,600) and the Illinois Public Risk Fund ($61,573). The vote was as follows: Esker, aye; Thompson, aye; Reed, aye; Hanebutt, aye; Linnertz, aye; Friess, aye; Nail, aye. Motion carried.

Motion made by Council Member Nail, seconded by Council Member Hanebutt, to approve the renewal with Kevin Hutchinson of C.J. Thomas Company for an insurance broker fee of $4,500, for December 1, 2016-2017. The vote was as follows: Thompson, aye; Reed, aye; Hanebutt, aye; Linnertz, aye; Friess, aye; Nail, aye; Esker, aye. Motion carried.

2. Health Insurance Eligibility – Mayor’s Position

Motion made by Council Member Reed, seconded by Council Member Thompson, to allow the eligibility, for City of Red Bud health insurance coverage, for the Mayor’s position. The vote was as follows: Reed, nay; Hanebutt, aye; Linnertz, nay; Friess, nay; Nail, nay; Esker, nay; Thompson, aye. Motion denied.

VI. Dashner Building – Furnace Replacement

Motion made by Council Member Nail, seconded by Council Member Thompson, to approve the job estimate from Shawgo Service, in the amount of $9,100, for a new furnace/air conditioner for the Dashner Building. The vote was as follows: Linnertz, aye; Friess, aye; Nail, aye; Esker, aye; Thompson, aye; Reed, aye; Hanebutt, aye. Motion carried.

V. R & N Invoice

Motion made by Council Member Linnertz, seconded by Council Member Friess, to approve the invoice from R & N Tree Service, in the amount of $5,660, for tree removal & stump grinding at the parks. The vote was as follows: Friess, aye; Nail, aye; Esker, aye; Thompson, aye; Reed, aye; Hanebutt, aye; Linnertz, aye. Motion carried.

VI. 2017 MFT Resolution – Approval and Authorization of Signatures

Motion made by Council Member Nail, seconded by Council Member Linnertz, to approve and authorize the proper signatures on the 2017 MFT Resolution. The vote was as follows: Nail, aye; Esker, aye; Thompson, aye; Reed, aye; Hanebutt, aye; Linnertz, aye; Friess, aye. Motion carried.

VII. Public Comment/Anything for the Good of the City (Discussion Only)

None

VIII. Adjournment

Motion made at 8:27 P.M. by Council Member Thompson, seconded by Council Member Nail, to adjourn the meeting. The vote was as follows: all ayes. Motion carried.
