Six Southern Illinois basketball players recently earned honors from the Missouri Valley Conference.

Three members of the SIU men's team earned MVC honors, according to the school's website. Sean O'Brien was named to the All-MVC second team, while Thik Bol got a spot on the league's All-Defense team.

Also, Armon Fletcher made the league's All-Improved team.

The Salukis ended the season with a 17-16 record, including a 9-9 mark in regular-season MVC play.

Three SIU women's basketball players received placement on MVC Scholar-Athlete teams. Rishonda Napier and Kim Nebo were on the first team, and Kylie Giebelhausen was on the second team.

To earn Scholar-Athlete honors, an athlete has to have played in a minimum of 75 percent of her team's games and have a grade-point average of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.

The SIU women's team was scheduled to begin play in the MVC Tournament against Wichita State on March 10 in the Quad Cities. Results were unavailable at press time.
