Track and field throwers in Southern Illinois will want to mark July 8-9 on their calendar, when the Southern Illinois University (SIU) track and field team will host a clinic for at the Lew Hartzog Track and Field Complex.
According to an SIU press release, the clinic will be open to anyone between the ages of 12 and 18 and start at 8 a.m. on both days. The camp promises to be a great learning experience for those interested in throwing and will feature instruction from 2016 Olympian DeAnna Price, professional shot-putter Josh Freeman and SIU throwing coach J.C. Lambert, also a former Olympian.
Price is a graduate student at SIU and holds the second-best hammer throw in the country with a mark of 244’-1”. Freeman owns the sixth-best shot put mark in the nation at 68’-7.25”.
