Mt. Vernon City Council met Feb. 5.

Here is the agenda provided by the Council:

5. Presentation of Journals for the January 16, 2018 Regular City Council Meeting.

6. Visitors/Citizen Request/Addresses from the Audience.

Public Forum Rules of Participation Participants wishing to address the City Council on matters listed on the agenda or on any other matter directly relevant to the business of the City of Mt. Vernon shall do so during the Public Participation portion of the agenda. Each person wishing to speak during the Public Participation portion shall sign a Speaker's List at the meeting prior to the start of the meeting providing his/her name and the topic to be discussed. Speakers will be recognized by the Mayor in the order the speaker’s name appears on the Speaker's List. Public participation portion of the meeting shall be limited to five (5) minutes per person. All participants are expected to exercise common courtesy and follow any rules of order established or announced by the Mayor and/or City Council.

8-A Bid Results for South 44th Street Reconstruction Project.

9. City Manager

9-A Request permission to seek bids for firework for the 4th of July Salute to Freedom Celebration.

9-B Request permission to close 6th Street from Jordan to Casey for a six month period for demolition of the former Mt. Vernon Township High School Buildings.

9-C Request permission to close 9th Street between Broadway St. and Harrison St. on May 5, 2018 for the Frank Belmont Memorial Ride and 5K festivities.

10. City Attorney

10-A First Reading of an Ordinance Declaring Property Surplus.

10-B First Reading of an Ordinance Amending Article 8, Section 8.1 Fire and

Police Commission, increasing the number of Commissioner from three to five.

10-C Inducement Resolution for TIF assistance with Kingdom Seed Ministries

for property located at 118 S. 9th.

11. Mayor

11-A Appointment of Rev. Erie Patton and Reappointment of Sean Featherstun to the Minority Affairs and Human Relations Commission.

11-B Reappointment of George W. (Bill) Beck to the Fire and Police Commission.

11-C Reappointment of Paul Lynch to the Downtown TIF Advisory Board.
