Monroe County Board met March 25.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Pinckneyville Community High School District #101, Perry County, Illinois, met in a regular session on the 27th of January, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. at the Pinckneyville Community High School in that district. The following officers and members of the Board were present: Greg Thompson, President, Brian Kellerman, Jeff Suchomski, Jennifer Robb, Kyle Pursell, Lisa Stanton and Greg Bigham. Keith Hagene, Superintendent, Tony Wilson, Principal, and Penny Corn, recording secretary, were also present.

The Pledge of Allegiance was conducted and PCHS Mission Statement was read by President Greg Thompson.

It was moved by Jennifer Robb and seconded by Kyle Pursell to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call: Greg Thompson, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Jeff Suchomski, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Brian Kellerman, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Lisa Stanton, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

Visitors Marilyn Smith, Jeff Egbert, and Stuart Morgenstern were present. Visitors were welcomed and invited to address the Board. Mr. Egbert asked the administrators to stop what he called retaliatory actions against his weekly newspaper, the Pinckneyville Press.

Mr. Wilson and Mr. Hagene gave brief reports.

Mr. Hagene discussed possible facilities HLS projects.

It was moved by Brian Kellerman and seconded by Jeff Suchomski to approve the proposed Health/Life Safety projects as presented. Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.

There were no FOIA requests this month.

It was moved by Lisa Stanton and seconded by Kyle Pursell to approve the overnight and out of state trips as presented. Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Greg Bigham and seconded by Kyle Pursell to have all closed session minutes from July 2019 through December 2019 remain closed and confidential. Roll call: Greg Thompson, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Jeff Suchomski, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Brian Kellerman, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Lisa Stanton, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Greg Bigham and seconded by Brian Kellerman to adopt Resolution R-2020-1 authorizing the destruction of all closed session recordings older than 18 months as presented. Roll call: Greg Thompson, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Jeff Suchomski, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Brian Kellerman, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Lisa Stanton, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Jeff Suchomski and seconded by Jennifer Robb to authorize the superintendent to begin preparing the tentative budget for fiscal year 2021. Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.

Mr. Hagene informed the Board that our financial rating from ISBE is Recognition Status, which is the highest rating. He then reported the progress of the County Schools Facilities Tax.

It was moved by Brian Kellerman and seconded by Kyle Pursell to employ Mrs. Angie Przygoda as School Social Worker for the 2020-2021 school year. Roll call: Greg Thompson, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Jeff Suchomski, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Brian Kellerman, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Lisa Stanton, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Lisa Stanton and seconded by Jeff Suchomski to approve Mrs. Leah Wagner as a volunteer in the district as presented. Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Kyle Pursell and seconded by Brian Kellerman to approve Mr. Michael Ellison as a volunteer in the district as presented. Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Kyle Pursell and seconded by Lisa Stanton to adjourn the meeting at 7:26 p.m. voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.
