Auburn Community Unit School District 10 Board met Aug. 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The following members answered roll call at the regular meeting of the Auburn Board of Education on September 21, 2022: Present: John Megginson, Josh Smith, Brad Smith, Jamie Kuhlmann, Matt Kern and Michael Bates. Absent: Carl Kessler. Also present were Darren Root, Nathan Essex, Landon Lounsberry, Amy Donaldson, Christy Bailey, Matt Grimm, and Dave Bates. Present: Sandy Jones, Melinda Marques, Erin Bidleman, and Ruby Howard, secretary to the board.

Kern moved to adopt the agenda. B. Smith seconded the motion. The voting was as follows:

Bates yea             Megginson yea

Kern yea              B. Smith yea

Kessler absent     J. Smith yea

Kuhlmann yea

There being 6 “yeas”, 0 “nays”, the president declared the motion carried.

Presentation and Explanation of FY23 Budget

B. Smith moved to open the FY23 Budget Hearing. Bates seconded the motion. The voting was as follows:

Bates yea             Megginson yea

Kern yea              B. Smith yea

Kessler absent     J. Smith yea

Kuhlmann yea

There being 6 “yeas”, 0 “nays”, the president declared the motion carried.

Megginson asked for discussion / public comment. There was none.

Kern moved to close the FY23 Budget Hearing. Bates seconded the motion. The voting was as follows:

Kern yea              B. Smith yea

Kessler absent     J. Smith yea

Kuhlmann yea

There being 6 “yeas”, 0 “nays”, the president declared the motion carried.

Bates moved to approve the FY23 Budget. B Smith seconded the motion. The voting was as follows:

There being 6 “yeas”, 0 “nays”, the president declared the motion carried.

Kern moved to go into Closed Session at 7:12 pm. Bates seconded the motion. The voting was as follows:

Kuhlmann yea

There being 6 “yeas”, 0 “nays”, the president declared the motion carried.

Board came out of Closed Session at 8:27 pm.

Kuhlmann moved to approve consent agenda items which consisted of:

• Employed ES/MS/JH Art Teacher - Tabitha Brinkley

• Accepted Resignation of HS Science Teacher - Katherine Obregon

• Approved Maternity Leave - Amanda Soliz - September 9 - October 21, 2022

• Employed HS Para Pro - Brittany McNeil

• Employed MS Para Pro - Kayla Ridge

• Accepted Resignation / Retirement - Trisha Hemberger - May 2026

There being 6 “yeas”, 0 “nays”, the president declared the motion carried.

Kern moved to approve the ES Schoolwide Plan Section 1114, No Child Left Behind Act of 2021. Kuhlmann seconded the motion. The voting was as follows:

There being 6 “yeas”, 0 “nays”, the president declared the motion carried.

J. Smith moved to adjourn at 8:40 pm. Kern seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous the president declared the motion carried.
