Chester Fire District responded to 49 calls in 2018 – 12.5 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Chester included 25 fires – 15 structure fires, five vehicle fires and five other fires.

In all, the department saw $280,000 in fire loss – or about $11,200 per fire.

The department also received 24 false calls.

The Westchester Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 27 active employees and 30 retired or inactive employees, was $414,387 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund’s mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $11,200 for every fire in 2017.
