In the week ending Mar. 28, four gas stations in Monroe County sold diesel gas at the lowest reported price of $4.99 per gallon, according to customer reports submitted to GasBuddy.
The county registered an average of $5.15 per gallon for diesel gas.
GasBuddy reports show that diesel gas was available at nine of the 12 reported gas stations in Monroe County.
The average reported price for a gallon of diesel gas in Illinois was $5.14, up from the previous week.
U.S. gas prices continue to decline after reaching their lowest level since 2021, according to GasBuddy. The group projects the national average could dip below $2.80 per gallon during the holiday period, driven by increased oil production and lower seasonal demand.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration expects global oil stockpiles to keep growing into 2026, a trend that could weigh on crude prices in the near term.
