Today, the State Capitol hosted Homeschool Lobby Day, where Representative Friess expressed support for homeschool families and advocates in their efforts to safeguard their rights.

The event comes in response to proposed legislation by Democrats, known as HB 2827. This bill introduces new reporting, curricular, and administrative requirements for homeschooling families. Representative Friess and House Republicans have voiced opposition to these measures, asserting that “parents know what’s best for their children” and they stand against what they describe as “intrusive mandates.”

Supporters of homeschooling are encouraged to sign a petition aimed at protecting homeschool freedom in Illinois. The petition can be found at https://www.ilhousegop.org/mccombie_homeschool_petition.
