We are returning to Springfield as the spring legislative session enters its final two weeks. With only nine scheduled session days remaining before the May 31 adjournment, the deadline to pass a state budget is approaching. A budget proposal from Democrat colleagues has not yet been presented.
Adding to the challenge, the Governor’s Office of Management and Budget recently lowered revenue projections for FY26 by over $500 million. In response, House Republicans have reiterated their commitment to fiscal responsibility. “House Republicans will continue to stand for fiscal sanity,” they stated, emphasizing their stance against negotiating a budget that includes any tax increases.
