Carbondale Board of Education to discuss student discipline
The Carbondale, Illinois Board of Education will meet Thursday, Feb. 25 to discuss matters relating to the performance, evaluation and compensation of specific personnel matters relating to student discipline, matters relating to collecting bargaining, and matters relating to pending litigation.
Those matters will be discussed in a closed Executive Session beginning at 6:05 p.m.
President John Major, Vice President Roger Pfister and Secretary Erinn Murphy will attend the meeting. Members David Biggs, Michelle Connet, Edward Benyas and Robert Gallegly will also attend the meeting. The meeting is going to be held at the Lakeland Administrative Center.
A number of financial reports will be discussed in the public portion of the meeting. Such reports include Treasurer’s report, monthly budget report and schools activity fund reports.
Pfister will present the Policy Committee report, while Justin Miller will present the Assistant Superintendent’s report. Michael Shimshak will present the Superintendent’s report and the enrollment report.
There is no topic of discussion for old business issues. However, there are a number of topics to be discussed in connection to new business issues. Actions on classified personnel, employment of a special education teacher, classified substitutes and the release of a special education aide will be discussed in the meeting as well.
Among other topics on the agenda, abused and neglected child reporting will be discussed.
The next Policy Committee meeting will be held March 3 at the Administrative Center. A regular board meeting, which will be open to the public, will be held March 25 at the same venue.
