Raffle

The Waterloo, Illinois City Council discussed a Raffle License Request and Waiver of Bond from the Abbey Cecena Memorial Fund for a raffle to be held at Saints Peter and Paul School Gymnasium.

The event, which was to be held Feb. 20, had been discussed in a meeting prior to that date. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Tom Smith. Aldermen Steve Notheisen, Russ Thomas, Rita Trantham, Stan Darter, Gerry Frederick, Vicki Koerber and Clyde Heller were present. Alderman Jim Hopkins was absent.

A motion to approve the Raffle and License Request and Waiver of Bond was moved by Notheisen and seconded by Darter. The motion passed unanimously.

The motion to approve the Collector’s report was passed unanimously as well. Budget Officer Shawn Kennedy said the franchise fees are down and motel owners were paying on time accounting for the increase.

Also unanimously approved by the council was a motion for an ad to be placed in the Tourism Times Spring/Summer Issue in the amount of $786 to be paid out of the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund.

Koerber said that the last Bicentennial meeting was cancelled. The barn dance was scheduled for Feb. 27, and the quilt would be displayed at the Court House.
