Franklin County Road & Bridge Committee met March 6.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

The meeting was called to order at 4:31 p.m., by chair, Danny Melvin. Not present was Robert Pierce, in attendance were, Franklin County Sheriff, Don Jones, Franklin County Clerk, Greg Woolard, Franklin County Circuit Clerk, Jim Muir, Franklin County Treasurer, Pam Smith, Regional Superintendent of Schools, Matt Donkin, Franklin County Engineer, Mike Rolla, Franklin County Supervisor of Assessments, Cindy Humm, Franklin County Animal Control Supervisor, Thad Snell, Franklin County Board Administrative Assistant, Gayla Sink, Franklin County Recycling Coordinator, Keith Ward and other interested parties,

Danny Melvin submitted the highway department claims which were approved and signed by all members present,

Franklin County Engineer, Mike Rolla announced a rock and oil letting for the county and townships would be held March 8, 2017. Mr Rolla reported on a proposed $1.5 million dollar road and storm sewer project on the east side of West Frankfort. Mr Rolla stated the engineering fees for the project would be between $70,000.00 and $100,000.00, he said the total cost should be 80% funded and it was possible that 49 parcels would need to be purchased, discussion followed, a map of said project is hereby attached as a part of these minutes. Mr Rolla reported the Almond Road Bridge project was now finished, there would be a June letting for the Crocker road and he had a travel request for the March agenda.

David Rea reported on various problems with the county facilities, including water in Annex building basement from recent storms.

The meeting adjourned at 4:51 p.m.
