City of Red Bud Public Works Committee met June 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Committee Members Present: Glenn Linnertz, Kyle Donjon, Bill Hanebutt, Clem Esker, Curt Guebert

Committee Members Absent:

Council Members Present: Susan Harbaugh

Council Members Absent: Mike Reed, David Friess

Others Present:Mayor Tim Lowry, City Attorney Paul Ray, Code Administrator Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, Administrative Assistant Pam Poetker, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Committee Chairman Linnertz called the meeting to order at 8:04 p.m.

Old Business:

I.Power Plant

1.Plant Report

Committee Chairman Linnertz reported that the annual surge test last Monday went well. Scheduled generation is set for Wednesday. There was an outage at the Baldwin substation.

II.Safe Routes to School

Code Administrator Jeff Mueller said that if Illinois does not have a budget in place by June 30th, this project will be shut down. Mueller told Fournie that they need to have all the ramps on Locust St. finished by the Fireman’s Parade. They will then move to South Main. This is a 50 day contract and Fournie will be on day 41 on June 30th. To date, the job has gone well.

III.FY’18 Permanent Street Program

Mueller reported that the bid was awarded to Rooters Asphalt and contracts were sent. The job will start after the Fireman’s Picnic.

New Business:

I.Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – Meeting May 15, 2017

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Linnertz, seconded by Committee Member Donjon, to approve the minutes from the May 15, 2017 meeting, as corrected. (IV. MFT Eckart reported that oil and chip has been scheduled for the NW quadrant on September 12-13, 2017. Eckart purchased a rubber tired roller for $9,000, with an extra steel drum roller added for free (2 machines)). Carried

II.Electric Department Squeeze Tool

Committee Chairman Linnertz reported that an electric department squeeze tool was being purchased for $2,000 to replace one that has broken.

III.Co-op Student Worker

More information on hiring of Wyatt Duclos as a co-op student worker is needed. This will be on the council agenda.

IV.Fourth Street Connector Project – Invoice from IDOT

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Linnertz, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt, to approve the payment of the IDOT invoice in the amount of $22,966.22 for the 4th Street Connector Project No. TE-00D8/168/000, executed 07/25/2013. Carried (This will be included on the listed bills.)

V.Clarifier Rehabilitation Work for Sewer Plant – Approval of Work

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Linnertz, seconded by Committee Member Guebert, to accept the bid from EnvironmentalH2O for the clarifier rehabilitation work at the sewer plant in the amount of $25,518. Carried

VI.Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City

Meeting was adjourned at 8:17 p.m.
