City of Red Bud Finance Committee met July 17.

Others Present:Mayor Tim Lowry, City Attorney Paul Ray, City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Code Administrator Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham
Others Absent:Administrative Assistant Pam Poetker, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Committee Member Esker called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.
Old Business
I.Swimming Pool Spray Pad Project and Update on YMCA Programs
Mayor Lowry reported on his visit to the Freeburg pool and their operations/improvements/costs. There is $350,000 in the park budget for pool improvements.
Recommendation made by Committee Member Esker, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt, to authorize the Mayor to form a search committee to bring a recommendation on pool improvements to the finance committee. Carried
II.Code of Ordinances Rewriting and Restructuring Process Update
Attorney Ray informed the committee that to date $8,844 has been spent and he is approximately 1/3 finished.
III.Industrial Park Property Acquisition
Committee Member Esker said he plans to work with Jeff Mueller and report back to the committee in September on what the city has done in the past thirty years in industrial park property acquisition, make a list of possible properties the city may be interested in and present a plan for where the city is going with its’ industrial parks.
IV.The Office Bar & Grill (Missy Stines) Utility Service
Attorney Ray sent a demand letter to Stines for full payment. Missy has requested a meeting with the Mayor, and he plans to meet with her. After discussion, it was suggested to list this matter on the August council agenda.
New Business
I.Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – June 19, 2017
Recommendation made by Committee Member Esker, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt, to approve the minutes from the June 19, 2017 meeting. Carried
II.Maturing CDs
None
III.Guardian Renewal – Dental and Vision Coverage
Recommendation made by Committee Member Hanebutt, seconded by Committee Member Friess to accept the renewal for dental/vision coverage from Guardian Life Insurance Company of America. Carried
IV.Annual IML Conference September 21-23, 2017
Anyone interested in going to the Annual IML Conference in Chicago, September 21-23, 2017, should contact Poetker.
V.Quote of New Exterior Locks – City Hall
Move to council agenda when Poetker would be available for a better explanation of why new locks are needed
VI.Fire Department and Snack Shed Roofs
Bids for the storm damaged roof replacements will be available at the council meeting.
VII.Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City
None
