City of Red Bud Cultural Committee met June 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Committee Members Present:Kyle Donjon, Clem Esker, Glenn Linnertz, Curt Guebert

Committee Members Absent:Mike Reed

Council Members Present: Bill Hanebutt, Susan Harbaugh

Council Members Absent: David Friess

Others Present:Mayor Tim Lowry, City Attorney Paul Ray, Code Administrator Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, Administrative Assistant Pam Poetker, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Committee Member Donjon called the meeting to order at 7:26 p.m.

Old Business:

I.150th Year Celebration in 2017

Poetker reported that all of the events to date have been well attended and very successful. There was an injury at the fireworks, but the city was named as additionally insured. There should not be any liability to the city. Chief Brittingham is talking about the need for an emergency plan for special events. Glasses and shirts are still available for sale. Upcoming events are Movie in the Park - September 15th, Cemetery Tour - September 16th, Heritage Days - October 6-7th and Holiday Voices – December 9th.

New Business:

I.Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – Meeting May 15, 2017

Recommendation made by Committee Member Donjon, seconded by Committee Member Linnertz, to approve the minutes from the May 15, 2017 meeting. Carried

II.Request to Close E.S. 5th St. East of Bloom St. –September 9, 2017

Recommendation made by Committee Member Donjon, seconded by Committee Member Linnertz, to approve the request from Mark Liefer to close E.S. 5th Street east of Bloom Street on September 9, 2017 starting at 7:00 a.m. for the Liefer auction. Carried

III.Recognition of Special Achievements – Susan Harbaugh

No Action

IV.Request from RB 150 for Assistance on Dec. 9, 2017 for Holiday Voices Event

Recommendation made by Committee Member Donjon, seconded by Committee Member Linnertz, to approve the request from the RB 150 committee to close the first block of Bloom Street and reserve the city hall parking lot and grassy area, to have trash cans and electric provided, on December 9th, 5-10 p.m. for the Holliday Voices event. Carried

V.Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City

Ted and Mandy Heinemann spoke to the committee regarding the transient business license ordinance and their food truck service. Attorney Ray explained the difference between a transient business parking and selling from a truck versus being under contract with a business (Red Bud Regional Hospital) to provide food for sale from a truck (during the Fireman’s Parade.)

The ordinance covering food trucks will be put on the agenda for next month.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:04 p.m.
