City of West Frankfort City Council met October 10.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

1. Mayor Jordan Called The Meeting To Order At 7:00 p.m. Requesting A Roll Call. All Commissioners Were In Attendance, Along With The City Attorney And City Clerk.

2. Mayor Jordan Asked For Approval Of The Minutes From The September 26, 2017 Regular Council Meeting. Commissioner Simpson Made A Motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Chambers, Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve Motion Carried.

3. Mayor Jordan Next Asked For Approval To Pay City Bills And Payroll In The Amount Of $624,668.45. Commissioner Simpson Made A Motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Chambers. Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve Motion Carried.

4. The Next Item Was Discussion With Possible Action, Regarding Class "A" Liquor Licenses. At This Time Mayor Jordan Explained How Many Class A Licenses The City Currently Has. The City Of West Frankfort Currently Has Seven Class A Liquor Licenses, Six Of The Seven Are Already Approved. Mayor Jordan Stated That We Currently Have Five Applications Awaiting To Be Approved For A Class A Liquor Licenses. Think That We Should Add Three More Spots For Class A Liquor Licenses. Audience Members Stated That They Were Worried About Losing Possible Revenue With Opening Three More Spots For Potential Competition Another Audience Member Stated That Competition Is Good For Growth In Our Community Mayor Jordan Stated That Opening Up Three More Spots For Class A Liquor Licenses Will Benefit The Community. Commissioner Simpson Made A Motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Chambers. Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve Motion Carried.

5. The Next Item Was Discussion, With Possible Action, Regarding Approval Of A Liquor L Cense Application For Leon Russell This Is Item Was Tabled.

6. The Next Item Was Approval Of A Faqade Improvement Grant For The West Frankfort Bowling Alley Commissioner Chambers Made A Motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Blades, Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve Motion Carried.

7. The Next Item Was Approval Of An Ordinance Authorizing The Leasing Of A Specific Area Of The West Frankfort Outlet Mall To Sandy's Flowers. Commissioner Blades Made A Motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Harkins, Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve. Motion Carried.

8. The Next Item Was Discussion, With Possible Action, Regarding The Purchase Of A Backhoe For The Street Department/Public Works. Commissioner Blades Made A Motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Simpson Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve Motion Carried

9. The Next Item Was Approval Of An Offer For Purchase Of A Lot Deemed As A Surplus Property From Ben Wyant In The Amount Of $1500.00 Commissioner Blades Made A Motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Chambers. Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve Motion Carried

10. The Next Item Was Approval Of A Repair Estimate From Xylem In The Amount Of $2,897.70 Regarding The Godwin Cd15ompump For The Sewer Department. Commissioner Blades Made A Motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Simpson. Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve. Motion Carried

11. The Next Item Was Approval Of A Donation To 1 Priority Of $3,000.00 From The Video Gaming Fund.Commissioner Simpson Made A Motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Harkins. Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve Motion Carried

The Next Item Was Approval For Payment Of An Invoice From Fisher Scientific In The Amount Of $1,584.04 Regarding Items Needed For The Lab For The Sewer Department Commissioner Blades Made A Motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Chambers. Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve Motion Carried

13. The Next Item Was Approval For The First Baptist Church To Hold Their Annual Children's Carnival And Block Off Certain Streets On Tuesday, October 31, 2017 From 5:30 P.M. To 8:00 P.M. Commissioner Chambers Made A Motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Harkins, Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve Motion Carried.

14. Building And Sign Reports

Building And Sign Permit There Was One Building Permit From Perry Reed Who Lives At 414 N Crawford, He Is Requesting A Building Permit To Put Up A Post Frame Garage. The Building He Wants To Builds 24 X 24 To Use For A Garage And Storage Commissioner Chambers Made A Motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Blades. Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve Motion Carried.
