The price of local government in 2017: Randolph County

The Randolph County budget was $18.41 million for its 2017 fiscal year.

That's a decrease of 13.7 percent from 2016, when the county spent $21.34 million.

Randolph County has a population of 32,423.

Since 2001, the Randolph County budget has grown by 61.9 percent, from $11.37 million. The county population has fallen 4.3 percent over the same period, from 33,893.

Salaries accounted for 27.1 percent of county spending in 2017. Randolph County property taxpayers paid $5 million for 52 full-time employees and 19 part-time employees.

In 2001, the county had 160 full-time employees and 60 part-time employees, and spent $4.36 million.
