Illinois State Representative David Friess announced on Mar. 16 that thunderstorms overnight caused damage across parts of the district, leaving some residents without power this morning.
The update is important for local residents as it addresses ongoing recovery efforts and safety precautions following the storms. Friess said his office is working with Ameren to help restore service to those affected by the outages. “I’m grateful to the first responders, utility workers, and crews who worked throughout the night and continue their efforts this morning to restore power and clear debris,” Friess said.
Residents who are still without electricity are encouraged to report outages directly to their utility provider, including Ameren or their local company. Friess also advised people to use caution around downed limbs or power lines.
The National Weather Service will be in Red Bud today to survey storm damage. Residents with photos of property damage are asked to share them with Randolph County Emergency Management. “My office will continue to share updates as they become available,” Friess said.
Friess was elected as a Republican representative for Illinois’ 115th House District in 2023, replacing Nathan Reitz according to information about his election.
The response from emergency services and utility crews highlights ongoing efforts in the community as recovery continues.
