The Public Relations Committee of the Carbondale, Illinois Elementary School District 95 (CES95) will be meeting Thursday, Feb. 18 to discuss placement of district billboards at highway entrances to the city.
A proposal has been submitted by CES95 Board of Education member, Ed Benyas, that would arrange signs that showcase academic accomplishments that have been reported at schools within the district.
The Illinois Report Card website states that approximately 19 percent of students in the district have met or exceeded criteria for the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) standardized tests in a comprehensive manner on the language and writing portions of the test.
The district focuses on educational levels ranging between pre-kindergarten and the eighth grade. There are approximately 1,500 students at the four schools in the district.
This meeting will also consist of reviewing proposed policy changes relating to community relations operations and there will also be a report relating to the transition of the district website. The full board meets on the the fourth Thursday each month unless a holiday falls on that day at 7 p.m.
This meeting is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
