The City Council of Waterloo, Illinois approved a professional services agreement at a recent meeting.

Attendees included Mayor Tom Smith, and aldermen Rita Trantham, Steve Notheisen, Jim Hopkins, Russ Thomas, Gerry Frederick, Stan Darter, and Clyde Heller.

The council passed a resolution authorizing an agreement between Streiler Planning LLC and the city. Under the agreement, Streiler Planning will offer its professional planning services to the city in order to update its comprehensive plan.

The council altered the date that was set for the annual Kristina's Race for Peace. It had been scheduled for May 14, but now it will take place on May 7. In conjunction with the race, the council approved of the request to close Main Street, from Mill Street to Third Street, on May 7. The Monroe County Outreach Group made the request in order to make the race safer for participants.

Alderman Trantham announced that The House of Neighborly Services will provide meals for the elderly living in Waterloo. Starting on Feb. 1, Western Egyptian will handle only four meals each week and will deliver the meals on Friday.
