Carbondale to hold second 'Unifying Our Community' town hall meeting tonight

A "Unifying Our Community" town hall meeting is scheduled for tonight, Monday, Feb. 22, at 6 at the Carbondale, Illinois Civic Center, 200 S. Illinois Ave.

Everyone is welcome to attend and provide input on ways to improve the city. Among the items to be discussed are art and cultural events, beautification, green space, health and recreation. Public safety and neighborhood watch programs are also on the agenda for the evening.

A discussion on community-wide events will also be held. Among the ideas to bring together and improve the community are movies, music and wine tastings.

Among the host of family-friendly community events in Carbondale are the annual Cardboard Boat Regatta at Campus Lake, summer Brown Bag concerts held at noon on Wednesdays, Friday Night Fair and the December's Lights Fantastic Parade. The Farmer's Market offers locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs and crafts on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to noon, April to November.
