Waterloo City Council approves raffle license request from Rotary Club of Monroe County

Raffle

A raffle license request and a waiver of bond from the Rotary Club of Monroe County was approved during a recent Waterloo, Illinois City Council meeting.

Mayor Tom Smith called the meeting to order. The raffle, for which the license had been requested, was later held at LM Bries on Feb. 5 at 7 pm. Alderman Vicki Koerber made the motion for the approval of the request, while Alderman Stan Darter seconded it. The motion was unanimously passed with Koerber, Clyde Heller, Steve Notheisen, Russ Thomas, Jim Hopkins, Rita Trantham, Darter and Gerry Frederick voting yes.

Smith donated $1,000 to the House of Neighborly Services. The money was contributed to use for worthy local programs from his winnings at the Elsa Wiemerslage Trivia Night Benefit at the Hecker Community Center. Executive Director Pastor Thelma Burgonio-Watson accepted the donation.

The U.S. Rep. Mike Bost (R-IL) presented the national flag and a certificate of special Congressional recognition to Shane Douglas, Eagle Scout.

The council also approved a Condominium Plat for Terry Barnes at Bradford Station. The motion was unanimously passed, although Alderman Koerber argued there should be a sidewalk.
