Jefferson County Board discusses two intergovernmental agreements

The Jefferson, Illinois County Board was set to approve two intergovernmental agreements to alter the territory of the Greater Centralia Area Enterprise Zone.

The approval was to take place during a recent full board meeting.

During the “Land, Tax and Appointments” session, two appointments to the Crosswalk Community Action Agency and one appointment to the 911 Board were discussed. The Public Defender’s report was reviewed next. An update on county finances was also discussed.

Sheriff Travis Allen presented the Courthouse's long-term plan while an ordinance to extend the franchise agreement with Charter Communications was up for discussion and approval.

Highway department monthly claims were reviewed for approval. The Heits Subdivision and the Mullins Subdivision were also up for approval.

The Clearwave Communications easement was to be approved, while traffic control at Wells Bypass/Ambassador Lane was discussed.

There was an executive session to discuss collective bargaining, negotiating matters, employees, real estate, appointment of public officials and pending litigations, if needed.
