Columbia City Council approves ordinance for discontinuation of water service mailings

The Columbia City Council recently approved an ordinance regarding the mailing of notices for discontinuation of water service via first-class mail.

The ordinance amends Section 13.12.020 of the City of Columbia Municipal Code. The motion, moved by Alderman Mary Ellen Niemietz and seconded by Alderman Steve Holtkamp, passed 8 to 0.

Alderman James Agne informed the council that, after discussion with the manager for Regions Bank, he would be reviewing the possibility of reducing the parking requirements for financial institutions by as much as 10 percent and will be reporting back to the council.

Mayor Kevin Hutchinson presented the monthly report of the mayor in the meeting. There were no Standing Committee reports.

Alderman Mark Roessler moved a motion to authorize the payment of vouchers received through Jan. 28 in the amount of $303,868.54. The motion, seconded by Alderman Jeff Huch, was passed 8 to 0.
