Carbondale Local Liquor Control Commission considers transfer request for C1 liquor license from Pick & Son

The Carbondale, Illinois Local Liquor Control Commission considered a transfer request for a C1 liquor license from Pick & Son Inc. to American Tap Liquors LLC at 518 South Illinois Ave. during a recent meeting.

The request was for package liquors, off-premises consumption only.

Commissioner Adam Loos moved a motion to approve the transfer request. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Jessica Bradshaw. Srinivas Gundala, sole member of American Tap Liquors,LLC, was present to respond to questions. He detailed his business plan with a presentation to the Local Liquor Control Commission.

The commission asked about the effect of clustering liquor stores versus other types of businesses. It also asked for the applicant’s experience in retail and liquor. The commissioners gave their opinions about the application and if it should be approved, tabled, or denied. The motion was declared carried by five to three vote.

The commission also considered a request to renew an expiring 180-day permit for Best Western/Saluki Inn to operate with a D2 liquor license. Loos moved the motion, which was seconded by Commissioner Lee Fronabarger.

General Manager Chris Huber responded to questions about the application and the cause of delay, and further noted the progress, which has been made. The motion was declared carried with no dissenting votes.
