The Local Liquor Control Commission in Carbondale, Illinois discussed the transfer of the ownership of an existing Class B2 liquor license at 102 East Jackson St. at recent special meeting.
Global Gourmet requested the transfer of the license. A transfer to the limited liability company from the owners, as partners, must occur to bring the Carbondale liquor license into conformity with the state liquor license.
The Liquor Advisory Board received notification of the application to transfer ownership on Feb. 26. Board approval was not required. Section 2-4-16 of the Carbondale Revised Code, on the other hand, requires that changes in the ownership of any licensed premises be reported in writing to the Liquor Advisory Board and receive the approval the Local Liquor Control Commission.
The commission is allowed to either approve the transfer or deny the transfer, based on one or more of the provisions of Section 2-4-5 of the Liquor Code. Such license is not issued to an individual person who is not a legal resident of the city or the country. It may also be denied for a person who has been convicted of a felony.
A Class B2 liquor license covers on-premises consumption of al alcoholic beverages.
