Waterloo, Illinois Community Unit School District No. 5 is going to inform school district residents about the facts regarding the County School Facility Sales Tax that will be on the ballot on March 15.
The information will be given during a special board meeting, the last of three scheduled meetings, to be held Monday, March 7 in the Waterloo High School Auditorium, 505 East Bulldog Blvd., beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The proposed 1 percent sales tax is going to provide revenue to school districts serving students who reside in Monroe County. The revenue can be used to pay for past, present and future capital needs. At the moment, school districts rely on property tax revenue for all capital needs.
The Board of Education wants the community to know about the sales tax, and what it applies to. It also wants them to know how it will affect them. The board will also share information regarding current finances of the school district and answer questions from those in attendance.
