The City of Columbia, Illinois is seeking someone to take the position of Director of Community Development.
The position has been recently created. The responsibilities of the position include guiding the city's planning efforts as well as overseeing the Building and Zoning Division. Additionally, the Director of Community Development will lead the city's economic development activities.
While a master’s degree in urban planning or related field is preferred, anyone with a bachelor degree in the subject matter may apply. The candidate should preferably also have five to seven years of increasingly responsible experience in community development, economic development, or planning. American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification is also preferred.
The candidate is also required to have experience in the administration of land use and development regulations, which mean zoning and subdivision codes. The salary for the position is $75,000, depending on qualifications, with a generous benefits package.
