The Columba, Illinois City Council recently received a donation worth $2,700 from the PLAY Foundation.
The check was presented to the council during a meeting held last month. Representing the foundation, John Traube presented the check as a memorial to Linda Todd to be used for the purchase of a bench and a table to be placed in Bolm-Schuhkraft Park. Traube thanked Doug Rose and Bill Todd for the donation. He also recognized the Columbia Rotary Club for their donation of $2,459 for the purchase of nine Pet Refuse Stations for the park.
During the meeting, the council was informed the city attorney had concluded research regarding the use of the park for the Songs 4 Soldiers event. A state statute permits the city to allow the use of Bolm-Schuhkraft Park for that purpose.
A motion was passed to approve Resolution No. 18-2015, which establishes the time and place for a public hearing to consider a tax increment financing redevelopment plan and the project for the proposed Main Street Abbey Redevelopment Project Area.
Another motion to approve Ordinance No. 3244, an ordinance amending the "Electricity Aggregation Program Plan of Operation and Governance of the City of Columbia," was passed during the meeting.
