The Mount Vernon Township High School (MVTHS) of Illinois Special Olympics (SO) Basketball Team is still undefeated after three wins over the Mount Vernon Mavericks (52-31), Progress Port Smashers (43-36), and the JC Jets (54-37).

The first ever Fans in the Stands event to support the Special Olympics’ team was a large success with many students, faculty and staff in attendance and cheering on the team. Special thanks goes out to the following people for their tremendous help in making the event successful: Nick Loafman of the Pep Band and Drumline, Tricia Wagner of the Rockin' Rams, Lisa Turner of the JV Cheerleaders, Jeff Lonnon of Lady Rams Basketball, David Edwards for running the scoreboard, Jared Shaner for radio broadcasting with Chris Hugo of WMIX, Brian Rightnowar and his maintenance/custodial crew, Wes Olson, Doug Creel and Emily Timmons who helped with scheduling, Kevin Braddy and Lee Ann Ferguson as MVTHS SO coaching staff.

The full game can be found on YouTube for anyone who missed the event and fans can support the team by finding them on Facebook by searching "MVTHS SpecialOlympics" and "Mt. Vernon Township High School Special Olympics & Project UNIFY" and on Twitter @MVTHS_SO.
