Murphysboro, Illinois' Sallie Logan Library Board discussed the Overdrive to 3M conversion at its recent meeting.
The board was informed that the Overdrive e-book consortium is working on moving all of the Overdrive books to the 3M platform.
The process, initiated by the Southern Illinois Libraries on the Go (SILGO), will be more cost effective and it means patrons only have to learn to use one platform to access e-books. SILGO has asked that each library board vote to approve the conversion. Board member Sara Faye Marten moved a motion, seconded by board member Debbie Martin, to approve the Overdrive to 3M conversion. The motion was approved.
There was also a discussion about the part-time shelver tendering her resignation. It was decided that the library would advertise immediately to fill the position and to increase the number of hours from 16 per week to 20 per week.
Martin mentioned designating a computer for use only on an educational website called Kahn Academy. The website will be available for students to sharpen their math skills. Martin also said that the finance committee must meet to finalize the salary schedule for the next year.
In the Library Director’s Report, it was discussed that the new book club had met for the first time and six people attended the meeting.
