Carbondale, Illinois Planning Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing tomorrow at 6 p.m. on the Downtown Master Plan.
The planning process began in 2014 with the formation of the Carbondale Downtown Master Plan Advisory Committee (DAC), which was formed to ensure public participation in the final plan. The DAC subsequently sponsored a series of eight meetings to gather public input from hundreds of attendees.
These public comments were then integrated into an interim report provided to Houseal Lavigne and Associates, the consultant the city contracted to complete the Downtown Master Plan.
Throughout 2015, Houseal Lavigne gathered further public input and completed a thorough analysis of Carbondale’s downtown. Tonight's meeting will gather final public comments on the plan.
Following the hearing, the commission will entertain a motion to recommend the plan for adoption to the Carbondale City Council.
The commission meets in Room 108 of City Hall, 200 S. Illinois Ave.
