DuQuoin Board of Education discussed re-employment of staff at recent meeting

The Board of Education of DuQuoin Community Unit School District No. 300 of Illinois discussed the re-employment of certified probationary continued contractual staff for the 2016-17 school year during a recent meeting.

The re-employment of the tenured certified staff for 2016-17 school year was also discussed in the meeting. The annual reduction-in-force for a number of extra-curricular positions held by non-DuQuoin Education Association (DEA) members was discussed as well. The discussion took place while abiding by a contract between the board and the DEA. An instructional aide for the elementary school was considered as well.

An executive session was held to discuss the employment, compensation and appointment of some employees, as well as the performance and discipline of employees. Issues pertaining to collective bargaining were discussed in the close executive session as well.

In the public portion of the meeting, Jo C. Dill submitted her resignation from the position of a high school mathematics teacher. The resignation is effective at the end of the present school year.

The 2016-17 school year calendar was considered for adoption. There was a discussion about updating the risk care management plan. Graduation and promotion dates were to be set. The board reviewed the district budget for amendments in the meeting.

The meeting was held at the Central Office, 845 East Jackson St.
