The Mt. Vernon, Illinois City Council discussed an ordinance rezoning a property located on Wells Bypass during a meeting held earlier this week.
The party that made the request for the ordinance was Gardel Strite. It would change the property from G, general agriculture, to B-2, secondary business.
The council also considered an ordinance approving a conditional use for a property as a dog day-care facility. The property is located at 414 E. Main St. The request was submitted by Randy and Connie Olson.
A resolution to donate the 1994 Spartan Fire Pumper to the Mt. Vernon Township High School District No. 201 was discussed. Another resolution regarding a request to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) for approval of a temporary closure of IL 15 Westbound for a “Salute to Freedom” fireworks display was discussed as well.
The City Manager was asked to draft an ordinance amending Article 13, section 13.8, regulating "open burning." The ordinance would permit eight days every year for the purpose of landscape waste burning.
Other resolutions up for council approval included: an agreement with IDOT for the Fairfield Road Resurfacing Project; a loan mortgage modification agreement with Johnna Braswell and John Paul Braswell; and the subordination of a revolving loan agreement with Z&G Restaurant Group LLC.
