The City of Carbondale, Illinois is going to conduct its Residential Spring Clean-Up Program beginning on May 6.
The program allows people to dispose of general rubbish and household items from their homes. It is applicable to single family houses, including four-unit buildings.
Residents are asked to place their household rubbish at the curbside no earlier than five days prior to their assigned collection day. They are also asked not to place anything after 8 a.m. on the collection day. If anything is placed after the deadline, it won’t be collected.
Here is a schedule for the program: May 6: All houses east of the Canadian National (CN) railroad tracks; May 13: All houses located east of Little Crab Orchard Creek and west of South Oakland Avenue and all houses south of West Main Street up to and including Chautauqua Street, except houses along South Oakland Ave.; May 20: All houses located west of the CN railroad tracks, from South Oakland Avenue east and from West Main Street south, and all residences from West Main Street north and North Oakland Avenue east, up to and including West Sycamore Street as well as residences on North Baine Drive; and all residences west of the CN tracks, east of Little Crab Orchard Creek and south of West Chautauqua Street (excluding residences on Chautauqua Street); and May 27: All houses west of the CN railroad tracks, north of West Sycamore Street, except houses located along West Sycamore Street, North Baine Drive, and all houses west of Little Crab Orchard Creek.
Residents are requested not to dispose of electronics, such as computers or TVs; tires, appliances or yard waste; or hazardous materials like paint, batteries, oil and gasoline.
