The Mt. Vernon, Illinois City Council met recently and approved a motion to seek bids for the Broadway and Main Street Water Main Replacement Phase 2 project.
The council also approved Accounts Payable in the amount of $844,977.41.
Both motions passed with no objection.
The council also approved an agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation for parking lane improvement for IL Route 15 from 15th Street to Old Fairfield Road; the closure of the 900 Block of Main Street for the Memorial Day celebration; and the reappointment of Mary Ellen Bechtel to the Fire Pension Board and the 911 Board.
During the public portion of the meeting, several residents spoke about the impact of the closure of 7th Street.
