Anna District No. 37 Board reviews motion to employ and accept resignation

Anna School District No. 37 Board of Education met Monday, April 18.

Anna School District includes Anna Junior High School, Davie School and Lincoln School.

Here are the minutes as provided by Anna District No. 37:

Minutes Board of Education Meeting

April 18, 2016

Board President Grant Capel called the meeting to order at 5:03 p.m.

Board President Grant Capel appointed Tina Waller acting secretary.

The following members answered the roll call:

Present: Grant Capel, Craig Dillman, Dale Foster; Elaine Ray, Dave Sullivan (arrived at 5:12 p.m.) and Tina Waller

Absent: Pam Needling 

Others:

Superintendent, Chuck Goforth

Principals, Charlotte Massey, Rob Lannom

A motion was made by Elaine Ray and seconded by Dale Foster to approve the agenda for the meeting. Roll call vote: Grant Capel, yea; Craig Dillman, yea; Dale Foster, yea; Elaine Ray, yea; Tina Waller, yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Craig Dillman and seconded by Tina Waller to approve the consent agenda of the following items: Minutes of March 21, 2016 regular meeting, activity fund report, community activity fund report, revolving fund report, treasurer’s report, cafeteria report, insurance report, bills and payroll. Roll call vote: Grant Capel, yea; Craig Dillman, yea; Dale Foster, yea; Elaine Ray, yea; Tina Waller, yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Dale Foster and seconded by Craig Dillman to approve for first reading proposed board policy manual updates of the following: 7:150, 7:190, 7:200, 7:210, 7:220, 7:210, 7:220 and 7:240. Roll call vote: Grant Capel, yea; Craig Dillman, yea; Dale Foster, yea; Elaine Ray, yea; Tina Waller, yea. Motion carried.

Charlotte Massey and Rob Lannom discussed their building reports.

A motion was made by Dave Sullivan and seconded by Craig Dillman to enter into executive session for the purpose of: The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2/(c)(1).  Collective bargaining matters between the public body and its employees or their classes of employees 5 ILCS 120/2/(c)(2) The purchase or lease of real property for the use of the public body, including meetings held for the purpose of discussing whether a particular parcel should be acquired 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(5)/ The placement of individual students in special education programs and other matters relating to individual students. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(10). Litigation, when an action against, affecting or on behalf of a particular public body has been filed and is pending before a court or administrative tribunal, or when the public body finds that an action is probable or imminent, in which case the basis for the finding shall be recorded and entered into the minutes of the closed meeting. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(11). Other(s).

Board entered executive session at 5:19 p.m.

Board returned to open session at 5:40 p.m.

A motion was made by Elaine Ray and seconded by Tina Waller to approve the executive session minutes of March 21, 2016. Roll call vote: Grant Capel, yea; Craig Dillman, yea; Dale Foster, yea; Elaine Ray, yea; Dave Sullivan, yea; Tina Waller, yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Craig Dillman and seconded by Grant Capel to accept the resignation of Aaron Roberts as head boys’ basketball coach. Roll call vote: Grant Capel, yea; Craig Dillman, yea; Dale Foster, yea; Elaine Ray, yea; Dave Sullivan, yea; Tina Waller, yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Dave Sullivan and seconded by Craig Dillman to employ Hunter Queen as

physical education teacher for the 2016-2017 school year pending background check. Roll call vote: Grant Capel, yea; Craig Dillman, yea; Dale Foster, yea; Elaine Ray, yea; Dave Sullivan, yea; Tina Waller, yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Dale Foster and seconded by Craig Dillman to adjourn at 5:44 p.m. with the next meeting being a regular meeting scheduled for May 16, 2016. Voice vote: Motion carried.
