MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF
SPARTA COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT #140
RANDOLPH COUNTY, ILLINOIS,
HELD AT DISTRICT OFFICE IN SAID SCHOOL DISTRICT AT 11:00 A.M. ON THE 19th DAY OF MAY 2016
The special meeting was called to order at 11:00 a.m. by President Terry Waldron and upon the roll being called, Terry Waldron and the following members of the Board of Education answered present: Howard Gallois, Kevin Holliday, Kenneth Kempfer, Mark North and Corey Rheinecker. Absent: Mekalia Cooper. Others present were Superintendent Larry Beattie, Ed.D.; Recording Secretary Tina Witherby; Principals Scott Beckley and Amy Price and members of the community.
Kevin Holliday moved, Corey Rheinecker seconded to enter into executive session at 11:00 a.m. to discuss items related to specific employee performance. Roll call vote. Yeas: Gallois, Holliday, Kempfer, North, Rheinecker and Waldron. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Mark North moved, Kevin Holliday seconded to come out of executive session at 11:11 a.m. Roll call vote. Yeas: Gallois, Holliday, Kempfer, North, Rheinecker and Waldron. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Mark North moved, Howard Gallois seconded to employ Dan DeWerff as a full-time Teacher for the District with 6 years of experience for the 2016-2017 school year subject to and contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check, physical and drug screening, along with proper licensure. Roll call vote. Yeas: Gallois, Holliday, Kempfer, North, Rheinecker and Waldron. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Howard Gallois moved, Kevin Holliday seconded to approve Dan DeWerff as the Boys’ Basketball Head Coach at Sparta High School for the 2016-2017 school year. Roll call vote. Yeas: Gallois, Holliday, Kempfer, North, Rheinecker and Waldron. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Mark North moved, Howard Gallois seconded to approve Hailey Ogilvie as the Color Guard Instructor at Sparta High School for the 2016-2017 school year subject to and contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check. Roll call vote. Yeas: Cooper, Gallois, Holliday, Kempfer, North and Waldron. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Staci Kramper and Dottie Barbeau of the Center for School Improvement presented the Engage NY curriculum.
Mark North moved, Howard Gallois seconded to adjourn the meeting at 12:32 p.m. Roll call vote. Yeas: Cooper, Gallois, Holliday, Kempfer, North and Waldron. Nays: none. Motion carried.
