Anna Community School District No. 37 Board of Education met Monday, May 16.

The board is the governing body for the district and oversees all matters at the district's schools.

May 16, 2016

Board President Grant Capel called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. The following members

answered the roll call:

A motion was made by Tina Waller and seconded by Craig Dillman to approve the agenda for the meeting. Roll call vote: Grant Capel, yea; Craig Dillman, yea; Dale Foster, yea; Pam Needling, yea; Elaine Ray, yea; Dave Sullivan, yea; Tina Waller, yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Dave Sullivan and seconded by Elaine Ray to approve the consent agenda of the following items: Minutes of April 18, 2016 regular meeting, activity fund report, community activity fund report, revolving fund report, treasurer’s report, cafeteria report, insurance report, bills and payroll. Roll call vote: Grant Capel, yea; Craig Dillman, yea; Dale Foster, yea; Pam Needling, yea; Elaine Ray, yea; Dave Sullivan, yea; Tina Waller, yea. Motion carried.

Visitors and Public Comments – Approximately 6 individuals made comments on behalf of Mr. Josh Shearer, Teacher.

A motion was made by Dave Sullivan and seconded by Craig Dillman to approve board policy manual updates of the following: 7:150, 7:190 paragraph 2 (4) strike “all”, page 2 option 1, 7:200, 7:210, 7:220 and 7:240. Roll call vote: Grant Capel, yea; Craig Dillman, yea; Dale Foster, yea; Pam Needling, yea; Elaine Ray, yea; Dave Sullivan, yea; Tina Waller, yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Craig Dillman and seconded by Elaine Ray to approve June 20, 2016 as part of the regular meeting as the date for the 2015-2016 amended budget hearing. Roll call vote: Grant Capel, yea; Craig Dillman, yea; Dale Foster, yea; Pam Needling, yea; Elaine Ray, yea; Dave Sullivan, yea; Tina Waller, yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Tina Waller and seconded by Dave Sullivan to approve the intergovernmental agreement for school districts Alexander-Jackson-Perry-PulaskiUnion Regional Office of Education 30 COPE/Safe Schools Program. Roll call vote: Grant Capel, yea; Craig Dillman, yea; Dale Foster, yea; Pam Needling, yea; Elaine Ray, yea; Dave Sullivan, yea; Tina Waller, yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Dale Foster and seconded by Grant Capel to approve the interagency agreement between Child and Family Connections. Roll call vote: Grant Capel, yea; Craig Dillman, yea; Dale Foster, yea; Pam Needling, yea; Elaine Ray, yea; Dave Sullivan, yea; Tina Waller, yea. Motion carried.

Mark Laster and Rob Lannom discussed their building reports.

A motion was made by Pam Needling and seconded by Craig Dillman to enter into executive session for the purpose of: The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1)

Collective bargaining matters between the public body and its employees or their classes of employees 5 ILCS 120/2/(c)(2)

Board went into executive session at 5:25 p.m.

Board returned to open session at 9:16 p.m.

A motion was made by Craig Dillman and seconded by Tina Waller to approve the executive session minutes of April 18, 2016. Roll call vote: Grant Capel, yea; Craig Dillman, yea; Dale Foster, yea; Pam Needling, yea; Elaine Ray, yea; Dave Sullivan, yea; Tina Waller, yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Dale Foster and seconded by Craig Dillman to approve the extracurricular assignments as presented for the 2016-2017 school year. Roll call vote: Grant Capel, yea; Craig Dillman, yea; Dale Foster, yea; Pam Needling, yea; Elaine Ray, yea; Dave Sullivan, yea; Tina Waller, yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Dave Sullivan and seconded by Craig Dillman to adopt a resolution authorizing the issuance of a notice of remedial warning to Josh Shearer. Roll call vote: Grant Capel, yea; Craig Dillman, yea; Dale Foster, yea; Pam Needling, yea; Elaine Ray, yea; Dave Sullivan, yea; Tina Waller, yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Pam Needling and seconded by Craig Dillman to adjourn at 9:21 p.m. with the next meeting being a regular meeting scheduled for June 20, 2016. Voice vote: Motion carried.
