Ottawa Special Events Committee discusses Music in the Park contracts

City of Ottawa Special Events Committee met Thursday, May 19.

The Special Events Committee assists with the organization and coordination of special events in the community throughout the year and works in conjunction with the Ottawa Visitors Center to promote those events.

Here are the minutes as provided by Ottawa:

Subject: Special Events Monthly Meting Minutes - May 19, 2016

Date: Thursday, June 2, 2016 8:57 AM

SPECIAL EVENTS MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES - MAY 19, 2016

Present: Wayne Eichelkraut, Jani Eichelkraut, Alaina Rivers, Nancy Stisser, Mike Dougherty, Joyce Kellogg, Absent: Peggy Schneider, Jim Reilly, Don Gillette, and Phyllis Revelle

Financial: Alaina reports no loss in funds for next fiscal year - $49,500.00

Old Business:

1. After involved discussion - it is very difficult to get people to attend one of SEC meetings - much less have them sign on to volunteer. There are 9 events (approximately) that are actual line items in the budget – only have a small amount of funds for new ideas. Seems as tho people may have impression they must attend all events if on SEC. Requesting current members to attempt to bring one person to a meeting to get a feel of the proceedings. Possibly submit a request for volunteers on the Ottawa Web site. Nancy suggested she could discuss situation with Chuck Stanley at newspaper for some background and help on the issue.

2. Discussed events in general - determined Ice Odyssey is most expensive but not much in return.

New Business:

1. Music in the Park (MIP) contracts are out - 4 have been returned and sent new ones to others. SEC members to get water to musicians by 5:30 each Saturday. Music to be from 6:00 to 8:00 each Saturday. Schedule for

SEC members to do water delivery:

July 9 Nancy

July 16 Alaina

July 23 Jani

July 30 Wayne

August 13 Mike

August 20 Peggy

August 27 Joyce lf anyone has scheduling problems please call others to trade your date.

Alaina suggested the bag pipers who have performed in the Riverfest Parade be considered for inclusion in the Music in the Park line up in future. Something to think about

Respectfully submitted by Jani Eichelkraut
