The Southern Illinois Miners are back in the postseason.
With their 4-2 win over the Normal CornBelters on Saturday, Aug. 20, in Normal, the Miners nailed down a Frontier League playoff spot for the third-straight season, the team's website reported.
The victory gave the Miners a 57-29 record and a .663 winning percentage, per standings on Pointstreak.com as of Aug. 25.
Evansville had the league's next-best record and winning percentage at 49-36 and .576, respectively.
The Miners had won two East Division titles in a row coming into this season, and had an 7½-game lead over Evansville in the division as of Aug. 25.
Last season, the Miners were beaten out of the playoffs by losing a best-of-three, opening-round series to River City 2-1. Southern Illinois last won the Frontier League title in 2012.
The playoffs begin Sept. 6.
