Jason Kasiar, Republican candidate for House District 118, donated 60 tickets to the Southern Illinois Miners game to police departments in Anna, Eldorado, Harrisburg, Metropolis and Vienna as well as the Saline County Sheriff's Department.
The tickets were for Friday night's game at Rent One Park in Marion. The Miners faced off against the River City Rascals at 7:05 p.m.
“Law enforcement officials are under attack all across the country,” Kasiar said. “Violence against police officers has even made its way to Southern Illinois. We need to stand up for our police officers because they put their lives on the line every day for us. A few tickets to baseball is not much but is our way of saying ‘thank you’ for their service and dedication to our communities. I hope officers and their families will be able to enjoy a night out at the ballpark.”
Kasiar faces Democratic incumbent Brandon Phelps in the November general election. He brings years of experience as a business owner, health care professional and president of the Eldorado School Board to his campaign. Kasiar has pledged to work for common sense reforms to attract new industries and bring jobs to Southern Illinois.
